Researcher in the lab

From research, to teaching, to public engagement, our female scientists are recognised at both national and international level.

The Women in Biology, Medicine and Health Network (WiBMH) provides a forum for postdoctoral research associates, research fellows, managers, professional support staff, lecturers, senior lecturers and professors to meet on a regular basis. The group provides informal interaction and discussion, as well as formal support, training, and mentoring schemes for staff at all career stages. We are dedicated to providing a positive supportive forum for women in the Biology, Medicine and Health Sciences. We aim to encourage women throughout their career here in Manchester, with the aim of increasing recruitment, retention and progression.

The WiBMH group meets approximately 3 times a year and provide personal and professional development delivered through informal meetings, formal talks (e.g. Professor Dame Athene Donald, University of Cambridge); executive coach-led ‘Coaching and Leadership’ six-month programme and individual coaching; and themed workshops  (e.g. Building Resilience; Neurolinguistic Programming; Confidence and Impact; Probation and Promotion workshops, and career reflection sessions facilitated by female professors).
